The Light Speeder
Release Date: Available Soon!
DN:Talk about your new record. Where did you get the idea from? What is
the inspiration behind this album?
GS: The Lightspeeder is the beginning of a story that I will continue to explore with my next record. It's not necessarily a concept album but I took some inspiration from the idea of ''Program'' music that inspired Beethoven, Mahler or Mussorgsky.
This album is very important to me as it stands for my love and dedication for music. I had to overcome so many different and difficult obstacles in order to make this recording that it serves me as a reminder that you can achieve anything you want. Just never give up!
DN: Who are the musicians that play on the record?
GS: I met the musicians that helped me recording this CD during my college time. Even though everyone was living in a different city (Boston and New York), we all managed to make music together.
Sean Meagher- Keyboards
Alfredo Grado- Bass
Gerard Cortese, Drums
DN: Do you have any projects that you are working on right now or any in the future? Any plans to tour?
GS: Currently I am busy finishing my 2nd book ''The Total Shred Guitarist"'' for Alfred Publishing and writing music for commercials. But I am also working on my new album which is called ''Chronicles of the Lightspeeder''. Furthermore, I am performing and touring regularly in the US and Japan. I also work as a clinician for a lot of musical equipment manufacturers which brings me to a lot of different trade shows around the
DN: What was the most challenging part of making this record?
GS: The hardest part was finding the time to do it. During that time, I was living in Boston and just finished college. I was teaching over 40 students a week and this gave me a lot of inspiration and of course also practice time. But on the other hand with such a full schedule, it was really hard to find the time to write, and record it. It was a great learning experience.
DN:Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering support creating
this album?
GS: I first and foremost want to thank my wife Ji Yeon for her patience, love and support and all the great friends and musicians who have helped and believed in me.
