DN: Talk about the record. Where did you get the idea from? What is the inspiration behind this album?

We wanted to create a CD that showcased Gravity's different sides -- the dark, heavy side and the light, melodic side. This concept came from a period of six months when everything we were writing was very aggressive and moody. After coming up with three or four heavy epics, we decided to deliberately tone down and come up with material based on melody and geared more toward our non-heavy metal fans.

DN: Who are the musicians that play on the record?

Joe Capka on keyboards, Matt Kerschner on drums and percussion, Brian Craft on the bass, and myself (Eric Potapenko) on guitars.

DN: Who are some of the bands/musicians that influenced you?

Dream Theater, Pagan's Mind, Periphery, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and many other bands that have nothing to do with our style!

DN: Do you have any projects that you are currently working on right now? Any in the future? Any plans to tour?

Working on our third album right, which can be expected to be out early next year.

DN: Any interesting stories you would like to share with us about the recording process?

Ironically, the longest song on the CD ("Nighmare Sonata") was recorded in the least amount of time! We spent 10 hours just cranking it out at Blue Moon Studios in Columbus. Also, the last two, alternating notes of the keyboard solo in "The Darkest Hour" were actually played by Matt -- Joe was so fried from a full day of recording that we needed to use Matt's drumming reflexes so they would be fast enough!

DN: What was the most challenging aspect of creating this record?

It was a challenge finishing the last couple of songs while going to college, as well as coming up with a CD cover that we all felt captured the mood of the CD.

DN: Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering support creating this album?

We'd like to thank our engineer Jason Vanek for having the patience to work on this project for years and adapting to our crazy schedules; Ryan Lowry for helping Brian design such satisfying artwork in such a short period of time; and our fans for supporting us and waiting for three years while we finished this CD.
